The Timeless Timeline
An Integrated Cultural Curriculum for the Upper Elementary Years
At the Upper Elementary level, the timeline is the backbone of the cultural curriculum, interweaving art, music, science, geography and geology. The timeline acts as an anchor to provide an integrated and flowing curriculum as it intersects with all of the classroom subjects. Join us as we explore some of the initial timeline presentations as well as how it is used as a jumping off point for multiple curricular areas. This program is ideal for Upper Elementary parents as well as those with students in their final year of Lower Elementary.

When Will My Child Read?
The “Write Before You Read” Phenomenon in Primary
Experience the scope and sequence of the Primary language program for both Hebrew and English. See how the Montessori classroom materials follow the child through a natural discovery process beginning with writing and culminating in emergent reading. This is an excellent opportunity to understand what Maria Montessori described as the “explosive epoch” in a child’s language development. This session is ideal for Primary parents throughout the three-year cycle and for those considering Montessori Primary.

Positive Parenting
A Jewish Montessori Approach to Raising Happy and Peaceful Families
Dr. Aly Mandel, our Classroom Consultant and Parent Liaison, will facilitate a discussion about raising children with appropriate boundaries and a healthy sense of independence. The session will promote effective communication skills designed to help parents achieve their desired results while avoiding power struggles. This program is recommended for all parents, whether currently Montessori parents or not.

The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts
Jewish and General Studies in the Lower Elementary Montessori Classroom
This program will illustrate how the General and Jewish Studies curricula overlap in elementary, providing children with a rich and multi-faceted learning experience. It is highly recommended for parents of children in the Primary third year, for those considering Montessori elementary school, and of course for current LE parents.

The Building Blocks of Talmud
Laying the Foundations for Successful Talmud Study at the Upper Elementary Level
This is Netivot’s inaugural presentation on Talmud education at the Upper Elementary level. Using the skills-based Bonayich programs—V’shinantam and V’dibarta Bam—we have begun to develop a Montessori scope and sequence for Talmud that will take our children not only through Upper Elementary but through eighth grade. Beginning with Mishna and then adding Braita and Tosefta (additional Tannaitic sources), Meimra (Amoraic statements) and finally shakla v’taria (the dialectic of the Gemara), the curriculum is designed to prepare students for learning Gemara independently.
